Find a Central Florida Rodeo That’s Right for You
Disney World, Universal Studios, and SeaWorld, oh my! Central Florida is home to several world famous attractions. We also have many outdoor adventure activities, destination beaches, great nightlife, and shopping. But did you know, we are also home to some of the best rodeo action in the country? We’ve been hosting rodeos since the 1940’s!
In Kissimmee, we host approximately 34 rodeos every year! How will you decide which rodeo is right for you and your family? We hope to share some insight to our local rodeos, what time of year they take place, and what activities you can enjoy while visiting.
The Kissimmee Sports Arena has been family-owned and operated by the Suhl family since 1992. Fun fact: this outdoor arena has been newly renovated! At least twice a month, on Fridays at 8:00 pm, you can catch some rodeo action. Before planning your trip to attend, check out their website for a full event schedule at www.kissimmeerodeo.com. Ticket prices are $25 for adults, $10 for ages 6-12, $15 for Florida residents, and kids 5 and under are free. At this rodeo, you can catch riders and ropers from all over the Southeast. There is no rehearsal for this one, folks. You see it as it happens! At the Kissimmee Sports Arena, contestants can call and enter up until the Tuesday prior to the rodeo event. If the contestant wins, they can visit the cash window and collect their cash earnings that night. Attendees can enjoy concessions with several delicious options, live music with a dance floor and a full liquor bar. Depending on the weekend, you can see the future cowboys of tomorrow or possibly a world champion!
The Silver Spurs Riding club was formed in 1941, and their first rodeo was held July 4, 1944. The rodeo used to be held in an outdoor arena, however, in 2003, the outdoor arena was leveled to construct a brand new 7,400 seat arena. No sunscreen needed now, just enjoy the cool A/C. The Silver Spurs Rodeo is put on twice a year, in February and again in June. Fun fact: these two rodeos are run completely by volunteers! The volunteers run everything from the production of the rodeo to the concession stands. They make some good ol’ burgers! In February, the rodeo is typically hosted the third week of the month. Tickets are $15-$20 for adults and kids 10 and under are free. During the rodeo, kiddos can join the action on the dirt and participate in the calf scramble. It’s a long standing Spurs tradition. In conjunction with the rodeo in February, the Osceola County Fair also takes place. Great for all ages! In June, the rodeo is typically held the first weekend of the month. Usually, this event takes place just after the kids get out of school for summer break in Osceola County, and they can enjoy the School’s Out Blowout event during the rodeo. Ticket prices remain the same as in February, however, in June, all Veterans are free. Contestants who wish to enter either of the Silver Spurs Rodeos must have their PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association) card to call and enter. That means you’ll only see professional cowboys competing for their prize money!
