The Circuit Finals Rodeo season kicks off next week!
In 1975, the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) created a system that breaks up the United States into 12 circuits. Circuits range from one state, like Texas, Montana, or California, to up to 13 states, such as the Frontier Circuit in the Northeast. Contestants can compete inside and outside of their circuit throughout the year, but only the points earned within their circuits are applied toward placing in the circuit standings.
How do contestants go to Kissimmee?
As the regular season comes to an end on September 30, cowboys and cowgirls from each event qualify to compete in their respective circuit finals rodeos. Champions from the regional circuit finals, as well as the year-end winners from each circuit, are then invited to vie for a national championship at the RAM National Circuit Finals Rodeo in Kissimmee, Florida. The circuit finals begin in October and run through mid-January.
